A method of finding of an optimal shape of the shell structures using available software for analyzing geometrically nonlinear structures was developed. A process of form finding was verified by analyzing of shells designed by Prof. Heinz Isler. A shape of the double curved shell designed above a rectangular plan was also verified by tests of the model built in the scale 1:56. The model was created by a modern technology of 3D printing.
