Pedestrian Bridge accross the Vltava River in Prague

Completed in 1985

The bridge was formed by a three-span stress ribbon of a total length of 249 m. The main span has length of 96 m and sag of 1.69 m. The stress ribbon was assembled of 3.0 m long segments and 9.0 m long cast-in-place saddles. The segments were suspended on bearing cables situated in the segments´ troughs, the deck is prestressed by bonded prestressing tendons. The horizontal force from the stress ribbon was resisted by wall diaphragms and micro-piles. Due to an extensive use of the de-icing salt the structure failed in 2017.
