Bridge across the Vltava River at Praha‑Suchdol

Tender

The 560 m long bridge crosses the Vltava River Valley at the site of significant natural monuments. The bridge deck, which consists of two mutually connected box girders of three spans of lengths 79 + 402 + 79 m, is suspended on two inclined pylons fixed in the footings located behind the natural monuments. Both motorway’s directions are carried by separate girders. The pylons and stay‑cables are situated in the motorway’s axis. The sidewalks for pedestrians and cyclists are separated and are located on the outer sides of the box girders. The design supposes that the bridge structure will be erected in progressive cantilevers directed from end abutments to the bridge center.

The design, which was developed in cooperation with Studio Acht, Prague, won first prize in an international architectural competition.
