Bridge across the Odra River

Completed in 2003

The motorway viaduct of a total length of 402 m consists of two parallel bridges which cross the Odra River and local roads at a very skew angle of 57°. Bridges of five spans are made up of longitudinally prestressed single‑cell box girders, which are supported by one bearing on the internal supports; in torsion, the girders are fixed at the end abutments. The composite girders of a constant depth of 4.00 m are assembled from steel beams of a trough cross-section and from a transversely prestressed concrete slab. The steel structure was erected in a progressive cantilever running from one abutment to another. Static effects in the erected cantilever were reduced by temporary supports.
